A collection of coins from East and West Germany. East Germany (German Democratic Republic) was a communist state of USSR after losing World War II when Germany was spliced into two parts. DDR eCoins were made in 1948 - 1990 and are well known with socialist symbols like a hammer and a compass. East German mark is subdivided into 100 pfennigs.

At the same time, West Germany (Federal Republic of Germany) was formed in the three Allied zones of occupation held by the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. German mark had a reputation as one of the world's most stable currencies. Deutsche Mark typically called the "Deutschmark also divided into 100 pfennigs. GM coins (German marks) have the famous symbol of an oak twig from a sacred tree. The oak is one of the oldest heraldic symbols of Germanic mythology when people worshipped trees as a home of the gods.
